Greetings to our School Community,
It is with great pleasure that this letter is written to begin our 2018-2019 school year together. A warm welcome is extended to the parents/guardians and students who are returning to St. Gabriel, as well as to the many students and their families who are new to this school community. The staff has been preparing for our students, and it is with much anticipation that we have waited for the start of this school year.
A sincere thank you is extended to our custodial staff, Mr. Aguiar, Mr. Hayward, and Miss Saunders for their work as they prepared the school community for the fall term. Thank you to Mrs. Duffield, our school secretary, for her work in the office as we prepare for start-up.
Our bell times:
|9:10 a.m.||Start Time|
|10:20 a.m. to 10:35 a.m.||Morning Recess|
|11:55 a.m. to 12:55 p.m.||Lunch|
|2:15 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.||Afternoon Recess|
Please mark Wednesday, Sept. 19th on your calendar for our Open House/BBQ from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please come out to meet your child’s teacher and see the classroom. It is our hope that many parents/guardians will take this opportunity to visit the school to meet the staff.
As we begin this school year together at St. Gabriel, we look forward to working together with our school community. Together, let’s CARE more than others think necessary. TRUST more than others think wise. SERVE more than others think practical. In doing so, with God’s blessings, our most precious gifts, our children, will grow to be the best they can be.
Sincerely, RomaLee Bumbacco Sodaro, Principal

Cash on Line
If you have not yet registered for “School Cash on Line” please see the flyer that was sent home on the first day of school in your child’s envelope; or visit https://wcdsb.schoolcashonline.com/.
The safety of the children at St. Gabriel is our primary concern. When dropping off children at the back of the school, please remember that vehicles are not to enter the school parking lot. There is a sign at the entrance of the driveway. The parking lot is for our school buses and taxis.
If your child has a severe allergy or health concern, please visit the office to ensure that the necessary medical forms are completed. To ensure that we have up to date information on all of our students who have severe allergies or medical concerns, parents/guardians are asked to visit the school office to complete the necessary forms. If you have completed a form last year, and your child continues to have an allergy or health concern, we ask that you complete the necessary forms again for our 2018-2019 school year.
Due to allergies and asthma, it would be most appreciated if perfume scented aerosols not be used at school. As well, a reminder that we have several individuals within our school who have a peanut allergy, therefore, please do not send any foods that contain nut products to school. Thank you for your support and understanding
Here is to a Great 2018-2019 School Year…Together We Rock!
St. Gabriel School Community
It is with mixed emotions that we announce staffing changes for the 2018-2019 school year at St. Gabriel. We wish to acknowledge several staff who are moving on to new positions with the WCDSB and/or onto new challenges. We also welcome new staff for September 2018.
Leaving for new positions are: Mrs. Woodworth, Mr. Ali, Mr. Villeneuve, Mrs. DaCosta, Miss Hallman, Mrs. Livingstone, Mrs. Follings and Ms. McIntosh. Best of luck to Mrs. Kuntz and Mrs. Runions as they move to new schools!
We welcome Mrs. Duffield as Administrative Assistant, Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Procunier as Kindergarten teachers, Mrs. Nichols as a Personal Support worker and Mrs. Harrington as our second FSL teacher.
We thank our LTO’s: Mr. Idzikowski, Miss Morris and Mr. Syme and wish them all the best!
We thank our ECE’s: Mrs. Fontes and Mrs. Taylor for their support of our Kindergarten students.
I would like to thank this community for welcoming me and working together to make St. Gabriel a place students want to come to learn, pray and play every day. This is a growing community with endless possibilities.
Due to changing needs in our system, I will be moving to St. Margaret School beginning in September 2018.
St. Gabriel will welcome Mrs. RomaLee Sodaro.
