MESSAGE FROM THE PASTOR
I trust you are having a great “after-Easter” time. Easter was a great time of blessing for us as a parish family. It was wonderful to see so many of you. I was very proud of our children and teens who participate in so many activities during our Holy Week – from our Good Friday Children’s Service, to ushering on Easter Sunday, to our very powerful Good Friday Passion Play – wow! I am also so proud of the children in our Children’s Ministry and in our Kids Klub. Their fundraising for the less fortunate during Lent was wonderful. So too was all your assistance to our St Vincent de Paul Society. It was great to see so much activity and the signs of life around our community.
For many of us, it seems that life is getting faster and faster all the time. I guess during times like these – busy times that is – we can give in to everything and accomplish nothing – except exhaustion – or we can pick and choose those things that matter, and do them well. How blessed we are to be people of faith!
Our faith helps us to put into perspective, and gives us a sense of priority, to what is important and what really matters. It comes down to a relationship. Are we focusing our lives on our relationship with the Lord? Is He first? Is His day central? Is worshipping God as a family a priority. It is amazing that when we put God first, the rest seems to find not only room to get done, but it gets down with a greater sense of peace. If you don’t believe me – try it for 30 days – put God first into your day, your week, your Sunday – and watch the change – it will be more powerful than the signs of spring after a long winter.
Please know that at St Mary’s there is something for everyone. I truly pray for you each day, and look forward to helping you find your place at St Mary’s.
Together in the Lord’s Service
