Saint Marie Among the Hurons Trip & Cancellation of Regional Track & Field Meet

June 13, 2019

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As you already know, our Regional Track and Field Meet was cancelled today due to the rain. The only rain date available is Friday June 14, which coincidentally is the day of our 5 ,7 and 8 trip to St. Marie Among the Hurons.

We have tried to make alternate arrangements for both the Regional Meet as well as St. Marie. Laurier Stadium is only booked for this week as the Public Board has booked it for next week. St. Marie is booked up and the date and buses can not be changed. Arrangements for the St. Marie trip started back in October. We were fortunate to get funding through the FMNI department at the school board to help with the cost of our buses. We want to honour their generosity as this is the third time that we have gone to St. Marie and they have helped cover the cost of the buses. As well, St. Marie is expecting us and has prepared programs to enhance our learning in History and Social Studies.

As a school team we realize that our decision affects a large number of students as 35 of our Regional athletes had committed to the trip. We have decided to honour our original commitment and go to St. Marie Among the Hurons. We understand the disappointment of not going to Regionals and look forward to enjoying our day tomorrow.

Thank you for your understanding,

Carolle Belanger                   Ashley Barry     Lei Ann Wade                        RomaLee Sodaro
