Cross Necklaces

All students and staff received a Cross Necklace with the inscription, “St. Gabriel”. Father Freitas blessed our necklaces. This is a special reminder of our Catholic School Community and all the many gifts we collectively bring to it. We have a lot to celebrate…our students, staff, parents/guardians, parish team. Thank you for making St. Gabriel School an incredible place to me. We are truly blessed.

Collection of Hard Candy Nov. 1 to 5

Canadian Food for Children is a registered Canadian Charity who gathers food and supplies to send to the poor throughout the world.

We will be collecting any hard-wrapped Halloween Candy that families would like to donate.

When a child has been starving he or she often may lose the desire to eat even when food is presented to them. The sweet flavour of a candy can entice these starving children to eat again. Canadian Food for Children sends these candies over to children in many countries. The candies need to be hard (like suckers) and individually wrapped. (Chocolate and gum will melt on the trip overseas.)

Students are asked to consider donating some items from their Halloween treats. Donations will be accepted from Nov. 1st to the 5th.

Thank you for your thoughtfulness!

Halloween 2018

We look forward to our St. Gabriel Dance A-thon on Wednesday, Oct. 31st. Thank you to School Council for their organization of this event, and to families who have generously donated items for prizes. If you wish to donate prizes for our Dance A-thon, please drop them off at the main office with your family name on them.

For students wearing costumes, please note that the school will not be responsible for lost or damaged costumes; students will be required to take responsibility for their costumes.

Students are to wear non-violent costumes/clothing. Please ensure that your child’s costume/clothing is appropriate for school. Students will be asked to change out of costumes/clothing that are considered violent or inappropriate (bloody, suggestive).

For students who do not wish to wear costumes, perhaps they can wear black and orange for a Halloween colour theme on this day.

We will begin our morning in the gym to showcase our costumes in the form of a parade followed by the Dance A-thon. Our Early Years Division will dance first in the morning followed by the Primary Division. After lunch our intermediate division will take part in the Dance A-thon, and then after last recess, our Junior Division.

We look forward to celebrating a thrilling Halloween and showing our school spirit.

Happy Halloween!

Monster Mash Dance-a-thon

Our Monster Mash Dance-a-thon is getting closer! We are so excited to see all our students dressed up and ready to get their boogie on Wed. Oct. 31st. We are hoping St. Gabriel families will consider donating a prize for our Prize table. Item suggestions include new toys, gift cards or activity passes. If you are able to help contribute, please send the item to the main office with your family name on it.

We are still seeking some volunteers to help during the day on Wed. Oct. 31. Volunteers help make our event a great success and we very much appreciate those who can share their time that day. If you are able to join in on the fun, please email Cherie at cherievan@live.com.

A remind for families that the Early Bird deadline is Sat. Oct. 20! Students who have submitted their pledge money on School CashOnline will be entered to win 2 tickets for the Kitchener Rangers and become Principal of St. Gabriel for the day!

Other donations can still be made on School CashOnline until Sat. Oct. 27. Students will receive 1 ticket for the prize table for every $5 in pledges they submit. Our Halloween Treat Table will be available in the Gym on Wed. Oct. 31, and students who have purchased on Treat bucks on School CashOnline will be able to choose items from a selection of candy, sour keys, chips, playdough, and Smencils.
